Though the iPad received its fair share of abuse and criticism when it first launched, Apple's tablet has been an unquestionable success.
By some estimates, the iPad, which had sales of 7.33 million in the last quarter, makes up 90% of all tablets shipped.
But Apple's tablet isn't for everyone and there are far more alternatives to the iPad than ever before.
Wondering whether you should buy an iPad? Here are five reasons why you should wait to buy the tablet--or choose another device altogether. What other reasons would you suggest for not buying an iPad? Let us know in the comments below.
The iPad 2 Is Coming Soon
Though Apple has been characteristically tight-lipped about its plans for the next-generation iPad, the company is known for its predictable product refresh cycles. As
Gizmodo notes, "When it comes to iPods and iPhones, the lifecycle is easy to grok: Apple produces new models like clockwork. Every September, new iPods emerge, tweaked this way or that way. And every June, there's a new iPhone. Apple hasn't produced multiple generations of iPads for us to pinpoint precisely when the next version will emerge, but since it uses mobile guts like the iPhone--and those mobile guts advance technologically at the same speed--it's reasonable to assume the iPad will see yearly updates just like the iPhone." The first iPad was announced in January, and hit stores in April, so it's likely only a few months until the
iPad 2 is announced. With only a matter of weeks until the new version of the tablet is out, it's best to wait before buying the iPad, which could be obsolete (and on sale) soon.
