When Parents Text: The 13 Most Hilarious Fails From Mom And Dad (PICTURES)

The Huffington Post     First Posted: 02/03/11 08:39 AM ET   Updated: 05/25/11 07:30 PM ET

Some parents are culture-savvy netizens who keep abreast of trends alongside their children. Others, not so much.

WhenParentsText is an ode (in blog form) comemmorating some of the funniest, most awkward text messages ever sent between parents and their kids.

"Do you have a relationship with your parents that has been complicated by T-9 and large thumbs?" the blog asks its readers. "We would like to celebrate that."

Take a look at our slideshow (below) to see parents' epic tech fails communicated via text message. Then, visit WhenParentsText to view the whole collection of texts (which will be available in book form soon). Submit your own examples using the "Add a Slide" tool below.

My husband and I managed to embarrass our sons he was out shopping with them. He texted me to ask about the price of an item on sale. I sent the price. He replied that it seemed terribly overpriced. I checked and found I'd left out the decimal in the price. So I texted "Oh noes! I'm pregnant. I missed a period."

Apparently the boys moved to the end of the aisle and pretended they didn't know him until he stopped laughing uncontrollably.

This was much funnier than most of the Saturday Night Live videos HP is always posting. (Suggestion: Maybe HP should find some comedy editors who actually know something about comedy.)

I think most of these were written by some blogger who was taking liberty with the truth.

For those that found the last one funny, there are tons at damnyouautocorrect.com.  I suggest however starting with the "top" ones and going down from there or you will run into thousands of dumb ones.

Yeah, there are quite a few of these comedy sites based on Texts popping up. The newest one I found is one where you make up conversations between celebrities on textortion.com. I recommend starting with "All Time" to like you say, running into dumb ones.

the only "fail" I see is calling these hilariously adorable messages failures...way to go HufPo...you FINALLY post something in the comedy section that is actually funny...then, as usual, you try too hard to make it something it's not...and as expected, YOU'VE failed...

My son put me on his cell phone account with one caveat: I am never to compose a text in public. He claims it is painful to watch and would make me the subject of general mockery. He is more forgiving about the texts themselves.

Reminds me of my mom who ended every instant message with "LOL" even when they weren't funny. Finally she revealed that she thought it stood for "Little Old Lady"

My ex-boyfriend thought that meant "sigh." I don't know how I ever snagged him, seeing that he imagined I was just sitting around sighing and emailing all day.

I don't know why you ever wanted to snag him after that.  Sigh?  Little OId Lady makes more sense than sigh.
