Virginia Thomas' Anita Hill Call Reportedly Caused Problems With Conservative Donors

Virginia Thomas, wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, reportedly felt some blowback from her conservative backers following a late-night voicemail that she left for Anita Hill last year, asking her husband's former co-worker to apologize for her testimony at his 1991 confirmation hearing.

From a Politico report Friday about Thomas's growth in the Tea Party movement:

But Thomas and Liberty Central ran into problems after it was revealed in October that she had left a voice mail, requesting an apology from Anita Hill, the woman who accused her husband of sexual harassment during his confirmation hearings for the high court in 1991. That prompted another surge of attention and -- according to a conservative who knows Ginni Thomas and is familiar with her work at Liberty Central -- it "spooked" at least one donor.

Thomas gave up her leadership role in the conservative Liberty Central late last year, ceding control of the Tea Party-linked conservative advocacy group to former FBI agent Gary Aldrich.

The Associated Press relays the transcript of that message.

In a transcript of the message provided by ABC News, which said it listened to the recording, Thomas identified herself and then said, "I just wanted to reach across the airwaves and the years and ask you to consider something. I would love you to consider an apology sometime and some full explanation of why you did what you did with my husband. So give it some thought and certainly pray about this and come to understand why you did what you did. OK, have a good day," Thomas said.

In December, Thomas admitted that the phone call was "probably a mistake, but claimed that it was "laughable" to suggest that it had forced her resignation.

Anita hill should have been the supreme court nominee instead of Thomas. Geo.bush sr nominated Thomas; geo bush sr. Daughter married a Koch offspring. Thomas attends secret meetings with Koch industries. Koch industries are major funders of the tea party. Our democracy is being hijacked.

The republicans amaze me. How can people who consider themselved intelligent live with their twisted logic. It would drive me crazy.
1. We don't want no activist judges. (accept Scalia, and Thomas, and dozens of Federal Ciruit Judges)
2. We don't want no big government in our health care. (accept when it regulates women's health, or provides gold plated health insurance for Congress)
3. We hate that "liberal media." (accept 5 companies own 90% of the media outlets in the US and they are all controlled by conservatives)

mrs thomas is foolish to call ms hill but ive always though anita hill got away without being held accountable for her behavior. i would be very angry and disgusted is she had put her hairs on my coke can, that is just gross and low class

She clearly thinks her husband is innocent of the charges Hill made and can't understand what could possibly have motivated Hill to say those things. Astounding. How could you spend more than 10 minutes with that guy, and not realize he's an opportunistic sleeze?

Disagree with opportunistic sleeze. A bit of a nut, well meaning, who absolutely did everything Hill said, but who felt so strongly that the topic was inappropriate for the confirmation hearings--and I'm not so sure I disagree--that he felt justified in lying. That said, the fact that he hasn't owned up to that to his wife takes you back to the "bit of a nut" part. Indeed he may well believe his own BS. Scary.

Why is Huffp continuing to run this RE-HASHED article from a week ago, if nothing is being done to put a stop to this woman's conduct.

Both she and her husband, have blatently violated federal tax laws that anyone else would be paying stiff fines, and possible imprisonment for. But because he's a SP Justice, they are both being allowed to flaunt their disgust for America, by doing exactly as they please without any loss or reprimand to them at all. But if a President was to not pay his true taxes for 13 yrs, he would definitely face an IMPEACHMENT !
