Andrej Pejic's Grandmother Is Proud Of Her Gender-Bending Grandson

The people in his native Serbia don't seem to understand him and his ambiguous sexuality, but the 18 year old model makes no excuses for his appearance or his career as a model for both men's and women's shows. He's tight-lipped about his sexual preference, but he reveals that he's never had any plastic surgery -- although he's not opposed to it. When the interviewer asked Andrej's grandmother if she had a grandson or a granddaughter, she answered with a laugh, "I have both!" -- but not before saying that she's very proud of him.

IMHO, I think he may be a M to F _Transsexual who has not really come to terms with this aspect
of himself yet.
But I agree that his private life is private.
I hope he really gets to enjoy his modeling career.
He certainly has a lot of fans. A beautiful person with a beautiful personality.
Whats not to like!

I suspect there was an estrogen imbalance in the womb.
His facial bone structure is clearly female.

Whether he is actually transgender, WE cannot determine.
Not all transgender men decide to go the surgical route.
And he clearly has no breasts.

You are profoundly confused. There are two things at work here; Look and style. He was born with the look. I am guessing that style is driven by economics.

How someone looks has NOTHING to do with sexual identity. Zip. Nada. I'll add (gratuitously) that sexual identity is unrelated to sexual orientation. Furthermore, neither sexual identity nor sexual orientation are binary. Nature provides a very broad pallet with the potential for infinite combinations and variations.

We are hung up on trying to assign simplistic labels.

Im Serbian, and I can tell you that my country is not really open minded when it comes to things that are "out of the norm". Just the fact that this Serbian grandma is so accepting of her grandson, is absolutely refreshing and gives me hope for humanity.

Take away the makeup, long hair and groomed eyebrows, Andrej is nothing but a very pretty guy.

he looks like a guy. end of. barely androgynous. he's just willing to go further with make up and styling than every other male model out there, and that's why he's so successful. you have to commend him for it as it shows an extreme amount of comfort with who he is.

I was scanning the comments solely to see if some people would equate "pretty" with sexual orientation. I should have known better. Someone also posted that androgyny makes them uncomfortable. YOUR problem is one of insecurity about something. I suspect that straight men will be turned on more by this kid than gay men. Nothing to be ashamed of boys.

i'm the one who said androgyny makes me feel uncomfortable. that's because the brain likes to put things in their place, and when something has no place, or more than one place, the brain feels discomfort. its got absolutely nothing to do with sexuality.

I was scanning the comments to see what people interpreted as androgyny. My interpretation has always been that if you look at a person and cannot tell by dress or appearance the sex of the person, that person was androgynous. I've never viewed cross-dressing as androgyny. However, I defer to the style section.

The most important thing about this article is that his/her Serbian grandmother is loving and accepting. That's beautiful and classy. Commenters who are uncomfortable with this or h8ful might wish to take his grandmother's wonderful acceptance as a guide. If an 70+ year old East European grandmother can be accepting and positive than surely we can too.
