Julianne Moore: Therapist Convinced Me To Marry Bart Freundlich

Julianne Moore learns about the value of family in the lesbian marriage dramedy 'The Kids Are All Right,' this year's indie smash hit, and says her real life marriage was inspired by the same sort of lessons.

Only these came from her therapist.

Speaking to the Guardian newspaper, she said that some analysis convinced her to tie the knot with husband Bart Freundlich.

"The only reason I got married in 2003 was for my children," she said. "I had a therapist who said marriage is really a container for a family and that made sense to me. Bart and I have been together for years. We have Caleb, 13, and our daughter Liv, who is eight."

Moore also talked about spending alone time with her husband -- when they can.

"I wouldn't say that it was easy. I think it's what anybody I know who has a family and a career deals with," she said. "It's a challenging balance. I feel fortunate that I've had both: and I work really hard to maintain both of them."

Moore, who was nominated for a Golden Globe for her role in 'The Kids Are All Right,' was snubbed in the Oscar nominations, but at least was named the Harvard Hasty Pudding Woman of the Year. She's also making a splash of another kind, as the celebrity face of the clothing line Talbots. Check out her modeling images here.

The actress also recently blogged for The Huffington Post about Valentine's Day.

Excellent actress. And pretty much down to earth by the sound of it. Rare thing for Hollywood.

Sounds like a "marriage" with a limited life span, involving a self-absorbed narcissistic woman who's "therapy" runs her unstable mind.

No it doesn't sound like that at all. Conjecture is evidence of fatuity.

Another psychoanalyst. It's possible to not like Hollywood for all the right reasons. Thanks for trying, though.

Well, the Academy has a history of giving Oscars to deserving actors for the wrong roles. So, perhaps it'll work out for her next year.

So much more interesting hearing her say she has to work to maintain a marriage than it is to listen to Gwyneth blather on about how hard it is to be a rich mother juggling acting and kids.

Julianne Moore is also a rich mother juggling acting and kids. Perhaps that blathering you hear are from the "jealous much" voices in your head.

No, that would be his disdain for narcissistic pinhead "actors" blathering their usual baloney in said head. Jealous in terms of money, perhaps. Their self-absorbed, all-important condescending drivel, no.
