Domonique Ramirez, Miss San Antonio, Loses Crown For Gaining Weight (VIDEO)

First Posted: 02/09/2011 1:50 pm Updated: 05/25/2011 6:30 pm

17-year-old Domonique Ramirez is suing the Miss Bexar County Organization for stripping her of the Miss San Antonio title, ABCNews.com reports. And among the reasons that the board took away her crown? Ramirez gained weight.

Linda Woods, the pageant board's spokeswoman, told the news site, "As a Miss San Antonio reigning queen, [Ramirez] has to live up to our rules and regulations and the standards of our contract," explaining that Ramirez skipped events or showed up with her boyfriend, and was generally unreliable. Woods added, "She was doing a photo shoot and asked to wear her wardrobe from the competition, but it did not fit her. I told her we need to get you on an exercise program. We need to get ready to compete for Miss Texas, just like any elite athlete."

In a local news report, Ramirez said, "I shouldn't have to be slandered like this and my future shouldn't have to be ruined over this."

Both parties will be back in court on February 16.

Moral of the story, spend you time getting an education not doing beauty pageants.

According to our local news print, the Express News ( http://www.mysanantonio.com/news/local_news/article/Pageant-s-legal-battle-escalates-1016464.php ) the person running the Miss Bexar County organization is a convicted Felon. She apparently was found guilty of Medicare Fraud and spent 3 Years in the Federal prison system for bilking the taxpayers out of 3.7 Million dollars. Makes you wonder if she's on the take again. Locally we support the plaintiff and current winner Miss Ramirez.

And what the hell does this have to do with the lass showing up late, or not at all, for appearances? Of course you'll support the local talent... this is what the uneducated do. Rather than look at both sides and the facts... just go ahead and blindly support the "local". This is what's wrong with society... not only do the kids not take responsibility for their own actions, their adult counterparts don't request/require them to. What lesson is that teaching the younger generation? She wears the crown, she follows the rules associated with the crown... pretty simple concept, eh?
03:28 PM on 02/26/2011
Very simply, what's wrong with it is not the side which stand but the appearance that the person was in FEDERAL prison may be up to her old tricks again. Pretty simple, right? Breaking the law, possibly taking kick backs, Federal Convict . . you know responsiblity at it's out most definition.

It's just like being an actress.. You can't sign up to work on a movie- and then all of a sudden gain an enormous amount of unexplained weight during the filming.

If you can't stand the heat, get outta the kitchen girl! sorry

She's a very pretty girl. I like her look a bit more natural. She looked like a 40-year-old her her pageant photo. I don't mean to imply that 40 doesn't look good. It does. I believe that looking 17 is more fitting for a 17-year-old though. Pageants are weird, man.

Its too bad because she is very pretty and the runner-up is a real dog.

If you don't like the rules, don't enter the contest.
Also sounds like her weight was only one of her "problems".
12:20 PM on 02/10/2011
I would hope the board had warned her of the problems before de-crowning her. In any case she is a public figure and it's not surprising that the reasons for her contract termination were made known.

Huh. I made a non-violation-of-terms comment and it never posted. Why?

Anyway...

My vote on this one is that if she was late, showed up with a boyfriend, and threw 'tude, then she deserves to have her crown yanked. I don't show up to my job when I feel moved to show up. I don't bring my boyfriend to work with me. I don't get snippy-snappy if informed that I am in error at work. It's called "being a grown up." As much as anyone can criticize beauty pageants (and there is a lot to criticize), they are a job. This is a money-making endeavor, as much as they try to gussy it up as "providing opportunity for young women." It's a job. She apparently didn't treat it as one, and now she's alternating between crying and throwing 'tude.

I have students like this young woman. They think that they can show up to class when they feel like it and on their terms. Then, when they don't get the grade they feel entitled to being given, they respond with exactly the same routine that this young woman is demonstrating right here on camera. And it's not a question of accepting the grade that they earn. Nope. In their mind, I have "given" them a grade and it's not the one that they (with their inflated sense of entitlement) wanted.

Yes, I see folks like her every semester.

Good luck, honey!

What scares me most about these younger generations is they take no responsibility for anything and everything is someone else's fault. There are already statistics about how short a time they keep the same job. This, to me, means they also have no devotion. How will they ever build a retirement... or are they counting on Mommy and Daddy to give that to them also? With them "starting over" at these new jobs all the time... how will social security ever be able to maintain itself? (yes I know it's the general fund)

That is one verrry pretty young woman.

yes she is, that pageant and that board is crazy
08:28 AM on 02/26/2011
So I guess we shouldn't hold her responsible to her contract because she's pretty? What a waste of comment space... what are you, like 13?

Seems very fair... San Antonio wants to be competitive in the Miss Texas pageant. If she is unable to represent them in a competitive manner, they have every right to replace her with someone who can

The pageant board is trying to teach her a valuable lesson:

If you don't stay perfect, people won't love you and you'll never be of value to society.

(DISCLAIMER!) The above is a satirical comment. The disclaimer is required for the intellectually challenged who would go off on a rant because of their inability to recognize it as such.

That's show biz. You're only as good as your last movie, your latest recording etc. She bought into that when she entered the pageant to begin with. Too late now.
08:30 AM on 02/26/2011
You forgot to tell the people how, because she's pretty, she is also not responsible for bad decisions or her responsibilities regardless of it being in a contract.
