Miley Cyrus In Marie Claire: Talks Smoking Salvia, Parents' Divorce

Miley Cyrus had a rough 2010 -- between her bong controversy, parents' divorce and make out tapes, it was enough to drive most other 18-year olds crazy. But as she told Marie Claire magazine, those normal teens aren't Miley Cyrus.

In a new interview with Marie Claire, the Disney teen queen talks about mistakes and moving forward. Talking about the bong video, Cyrus takes responsibility -- but knows it's part of the growing process.

"What I never wanted was for my fans to ever feel like I betrayed them... to feel like I said I was something, then turned around and was something that I'm not," she told the magazine (via Celebuzz). "But I've never, ever claimed to be perfect. I mean, since I've started the show, I've always said, 'I'm gonna make mistakes.' I know this. And I think that that is one of the reasons why people related to me. Why kids related to me."

I am so sorry to disagree with most of U...Miley is incredibly HOT in this photo. She is an adult and can market herself anyway she sees fit.

If she chooses to use her body and behavior as a foil, I salute her and hope it works out for the best.

What Miley Cyrus forgets is that her fan base were tweens, most under 12. As she tries becoming the next Katy Perry or Kei$ha, that age group has been left behind. The question is whether she will find another one. Imagine the ego on this kid!!!

It wasn't Salvia .She was smoking pot. That just what her P.R. team decided would be less damaging in public opinion. If it's Salvia she was smoking then what we have is a plucky teen doing some experimenting and not a video of criminal behavior. Have you seen any of the thousands of videos on YouTube of kids doing Salvia? They are incoherent and completely dysfunctional before they finish blowing the smoke out. I was clean and sober through high school.
I have never done an illegal drug, I don't smoke and I didn't even drink until my 30's.

I don't see anything wrong with what she did. Drinking the beer was legal. It's allowed in the country she was in, and it's just beer. The world isn't going to end over one beverage.

Smoking salvia, while not exceptionally smart is also legal. I would prefer if pot was legal and she could smoke that instead. It's less harmful, the only harm that comes from it is exposure to drug dealers, which wouldn't happen if it was legal.

The lesson to pass on to your kids is that even normally smart people make mistakes. And there is nothing wrong with that so long as they learn from them.

I understand that parents want her to be perfect to be a role model for their children. And that's completely absurd. They should want people that use their brains or contribute to the world in some way to be their kids role models. If they want to use her as a role model at least explain that everyone makes mistakes and she is an adult and can decide for herself if that's even a mistake.
