Those interested in a enjoying a cultural experience can check out short film screenings or a new art exhibition opening. Friday: Aquarium Drunkard presents Smith Westerns w/ YUCK and Therapies Son

"Chicago's Smith Westerns combine classic power pop with the innocence of teen angst. Their songs reflect characteristically boyish concerns: girls, sex, and a burning admiration for their garage-rock predecessors. The homage paid to Jay Reatard and former tourmates Nobunny is unapologetic, but the Smith Westerns' catchy melodies ultimately save them from doppelgänger status. Tonight at the Echo, the rising Windy City pop band is joined by Therapies Son and the UK's inappropriately named YUCK, who celebrate the release of their self-titled debut this week." -Anna Piepmeyer, Flavorpill
