Lady Gaga: Egg Grammy Arrival (PHOTOS, VIDEO)

Photos and video below! She promised a surprise, and we got one: Lady Gaga arrived at the Grammys in a gigantic egg carried by four men, like an avian Cleopatra. Was she Born This Way? Ok, that's a pun on her brand new song, which she'll be performing tonight.

Gaga won her first Grammy on the night for Best Pop Vocal Album, for her album "The Fame Monster"

If she had staged this very same performance piece in a museum or a Gallery or the Kennedy Center, you'd be seeing it entirely differently and the reaction would not be so disbelieving. This was a performance arts piece, start to finish. The ONLY difference is where it was performed. Otherwise, it is exactly the same as what would be performed in a fine arts space instead of a pop music award show.

In an Australian radio station interview, she clarified this issue. There were several chambers and she moved back and forth between them but she was, in fact, 'incubating' or doing prolonged meditation about this performance piece and what it means to her artistically, spiritually and musically for about 72 hours. One chamber was the red carpet vessel; she arrived for the lineup about 4:30 pm and did not come inside & do her 'interview' with Ryan Secrest until about 6:30 pm. Then she was moved backstage. I think the vessel used on stage may have been different from the red carpet vessel because the hatch designs were totally different and the birth vessel looked a little larger. But it's hard to say. The second definitely known chamber was the adult-sized incubator, some called it a coffin; she moved between hotel and backstage for rehearsal in that chamber. Obviously she would have had to come out long enough for Dress Rehearsal, before going back in and transferring back to one of the other vessels.

I like her shenanigans, but she should hire new people to write music for her, because it stinks. Imagine how cool she would be if she were this weird AND didn't make music that caused baby Jesus to cry!
