Groveport Madison Student Finds Educator's Penis Photo On Class iPad

The Columbus Dispatch:

A Groveport Madison educator is on administrative leave after a student saw a picture of his penis on a school-owned iPad.

The 11-year-old sixth-grader was shocked when she saw the picture during a reading class Friday at Groveport Madison Middle School South, said her mother, Stephanie Lunceford. The students are assigned iPads, a type of tablet computer, to use during class time, Lunceford said.

Given iPads??!? I am ALL for modernizing our education and think we should be doing more. But iPads?? Talk about flushing money down the drain. There are so many equivalent functional technologies that are a fraction of the price. I am seriously just stunned. I am just...who decided iPads? The kids??!? Do they have Dodge Challengers for drivers ed????

As part of my job I sometimes bring home my school laptop and under no circumstances do I let anyone else use it, except my wife who is also a teacher. You look at a website once or send anything of a personal nature and it belongs to the district. Its their computer. he forgot that.

Most of the comments on this page are complaining that the teacher's salary isn't enough. Being how that is entirely beside of the point of the article and a little worrying that a little girl seeing pornographic photo's of her teacher is less important than what kind of sports car he drives -

That teacher would have to be extremely incompetent to store those photos in his "My Documents - Photo's" section where anyone could easily stumble across it with just 2 clicks from the desktop.

In addition to not setting the sync options on his computer or the ipad. I almost think he got some kind of perverted satisfaction from this. The stupidity involved makes it hard to believe this was an accident.

Whoever put this child's photograph with this story should be fired...even if this child is the one who saw the offence.

HP has a bad reputation of mis association. This is an extremely horrid example.
