Michael Vick Oprah

CHICAGO — The NFL star whose name became synonymous with dogfighting is scheduled to be a guest on the "The Oprah Winfrey Show."

The daytime talk show host's interview with Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick is set to air Thursday, Feb. 24.

Officials with Chicago-based Harpo Productions say the interview will cover Vick's time in prison, his work with the Humane Society and his return to the NFL.

Vick served 18 months in prison over a dogfighting operation based on his property in Surry County, Va. In 2007, several dogs were seized from his property.

He was reinstated to the NFL for the 2009 season and has been doing public-service work, including with the Humane Society.

I love how all you Vick haters won't be satisfied unless Vick suffers for the rest of his life. What makes you any different from what you say he is? He has paid everybody he owes for what he has done. Wanting him to hurt until YOU feel better is the definition of torture. Look in the mirror if you're looking for somebody to hate.

This is the same Humane Society that wanted to euthanize all the dogs because they were "too vicious to be rehabilitated". That said before they had even met or evaluated the dogs.

I hope Oprah tears a strip off his like his dogs were forced to do to each other!

What about the dogs? When do they get to appear on Oprah? I hope she tackles him real hard like Clay Matthes.

Sounds like the "interview" that the football player conducted with Vick on 60 Minutes. He never touched upon the cruelty that Vick is guilty of.

YES! animal advocates did complain about Palin killing animals.
11:35 AM on 02/15/2011
I do not condone what Vick did.. Let us be fair, If all the people commenting are so concerned about animal cruelty did you ever complain of Sarah Palin shooting all thos innocent animals in Alaska?

Yes. She didn't need meat for her freezer.

BUT, she didn't do that over several years like Vick did.

There is a HUGE difference in the torture that he inflicted and being shot by a rifle. HUGE. Not that I want anything shot...you can't compare Palin to Vick.

I wonder if Mike Vic will pull a Maverick and start jumping up and down on Oprah's couch. Talk about the ratings going through the roof.

Bring on all the Vick haters who can only say a couple of run-of-the-mill things about him. He made mistakes. We have all made mistakes, to varying degrees. What's important is he's trying to learn from them and make amends. No one on this board has the authority to posit that he doesn't deserve the chance to rehabilitate. What he did was terrible, but it's in the past...I'm sick of everyone being on the "Hate Vick" bandwagon because they can't let it go. He's made mistakes, he's moving on, why can't everyone else?

I agree with Guitarguy22, We, as humans learn as we grow. This affects our behavior. As we learn, or , in this case, relearn we become more enllightened...therefore able to make better choices.

I'M HERE! Vick's crime is not one to get over. He's a lowlife and I will continue to feel nothing but contempt for him.

Now...bring on all the Vick apologists who can only say run of the mill things about him.

Torturing animals is not a "mistake". It is well though out. The fact that he enjoyed such a thing is disturbing. He is now making $$$ off of it.as is Oprah. That is dispicable.

You're right...we as a society should deny anyone the chance to rehabilitate. Let's just move to a "one strike, you're out" system. Who are you to judge what he has done? Maybe you haven't participated in dogfighting, but I'm sure you've made mistakes you regret in your life...I know I have. I'm not saying what he did wasn't horrible; I'm simply saying that he's an imperfect human like the rest of us that deserves a chance to learn from his mistakes like anyone else. To deny him that chance is to adopt a "holier than thou" attitude and is a little arrogant.

It makes sense for Oprah to have Vic on her show. First she had the "Pit Bull" with lipstick (Sarah P) and then she will have the repented pit bull assassin Vick.

This is really really tough for me. I know that Oprah will not be an "oh it's no big deal" person as I have seen others be about this but I don't think I can watch because the issue will be rehashed and I couldn't bear to hear again about those dogs ---- some of which were brought to my local community for rehabilitation (the ones who survived) - it's beyond awful stuff.

He is a brave man, because Oprah is Dog Lover In Chief of the U.S. If she doesn't ask him the hard questions, I'll be disappointed. However, if she does, and he answers them honestly, then it will be a worthwhile interview. We'll see.

This is a brilliant PR move by Vick. Convincing Oprah he is a changed man will do wonders for his image.

i'm pretty sure he is a changed man.

and if he isn't he will never own a dog, so why are you still complaining???
10:03 AM on 02/15/2011
He can own dogs again in 2012. So, get your information straight. How would you know if he has changed? Do you know him? Did you know back when he was killing dogs in horrific ways? Have you known him all this time so you can judge the way he was with the way you think he is now? No, you don't. So, you don't know whether he is a changed man.

Can you read? Where did I complain? Dope.

Michael please don't do this one. The Wizard of "O" is going to set you up for a cheap shot. Fair and balanced will not be in her agenda.

Vick is also learning from his mistakes and trying to make amends. Who's to say he doesn't deserve a second chance? Everyone does...learning from mistakes are a part of everyone's lives.

O , unlike Fake, can be fair and balanced.
