Nude Beaches: How To Bare It All At The Beach

Nude Beaches

AOL Travel News:

People around the world take to various beaches sans clothing, unafraid to bare some or all of their bodies. While the legality of the practice varies from place to place, nude beaches remain an important draw for tourists and local beach dwellers alike.

Sure, you could chance slipping off your swimsuit at the more remote beaches in the U.S. and other parts of the world. Standard practice, however, is to bare your skin at beaches designated as clothing-optional or nude beaches. In fact, most nudists (sometimes referred to as "naturists") maintain a fairly strong code of ethics regarding the practice. Organizations like the International Naturist Federation work to promote those ethics, including the idea that "nude is not lewd."

Trip advisor in a survey last year found almost 50% of Americans surveyed were interested in nude sunbathing resorts and nude beach vacations, up from just over 30% in 2009. And a CNBC poll right after that trip advisor story, showed 53% of people surveyed were interested. The New York Times has reported that vacationing at clothing optional resorts is the FASTEST growing trend in the travel industry.

Last year, the Huffington Post listed the top 11 nudist resorts in the world here: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/09/01/9-nudist-resorts-_n_700786.html#s133807&title=undefined

The story above is very interesting and necessary as so many people want to learn more about this fun, healthy, relaxing vacation choice. And for perspective, less than 10% of Americans are interested in golf vacations and just over 5% in tennis. Yet look at all the media attention devoted to those stories. AOL and Huffington Post should be doing more, not less stories about nude vacations.

To learn more about places in the US to vacation, visit http://aanr.com ,the American Association for Nude Recreation. They are the largest and most well know nude recreation group in the US from 1931.

Most naked is not good naked. That's why there are lights to be turned out. Unfortunately, you can't do that at the beach, nor can you burn out of your mind the images you often see at nude beaches. I'm not saying that there are not some lovely people, I'm just saying most naked is not good naked. still, have fun burning your buns!

Oddly enough, there is a great nude beach in Texas of all places.  It's called Hippie Hollow in Austin.

an Onofre State Park, mounted a legal battle against the State but ultimately had their case overturned in 2009. Visitors to the beach are still fighting back today, making small victories.

FYI that's next to a Nuclear Power Plant.

There is a beach in Summerland near Santa Barbara, down a cliff not visible from the 101, but if you're on Amtrak you might see some naked folks...oh the horror, have the kids look away (of course they'll want to look even more then)

Just a quick reality check-the people you might see on the beach will not look like the one in the pic.

Well, the occasional person will.  The ratio is about the same as among the textile population:  One really great looker per 20 people.

As a general rule of thumb, the more clothes a person takes off, the worse the body.

Observing people without clothes is not the object of a nude beach. Enjoying the freedom of the sun and wind on your body is the reason most people are there, not to be ogled by voyeurs.

I just wanted to see what I was missing..............

Only one of those girls was worth looking at..............
