'The King Of Limbs': Radiohead Announces New Album

Radiohead

NEW YORK -- Radiohead is releasing its eighth studio album, this time with a price.

The band announced Monday that its latest release, "The King of Limbs," will be available as early as Saturday. Unlike its last pay-what-you-want album, "In Rainbows," this one will have a price.

Fans can pre-order an MP3 download for $9 or a higher-quality WAV version for $14. For approximately $50, there's also an extensive "Newspaper Album" that includes two vinyl records and deluxe packaging.

The band didn't explain its pricing philosophy this time around. Its "In Rainbows" release in 2007 was seen as radical at the time, and was generally viewed as both lucrative and popular.

Along with the beatles, radiohead must be the most important band of all time, they have progressed and changed and become so many different things and make albums nobody else out is possible of making, this set backs that entirely.

Their entire Glastonbury set from '03. I've watched this over 200 times. Oh, I'm 53. Not that age matters.

For all you people wondering about why Radiohead is regarded so highly, here is a vid of the 3 guitar assault of 'Lucky' from OK Computer.

Radiohead- one of the last great hopes of music today. Radiohead's always brilliant, so it's hard to complain that their album is priced this time. I wonder how political this album will be, given all that's happened since 2007. A covert shot or two at David Cameron wouldn't at all take me by surprise.

I saw the Jicks open for Radiohead once. Also Spiritualized opened one and The Beta Band opened at their legendary Grant Park show in '01. They like good music as much as their fans.

Are there people who still pretend these middlebrow darlings are an indie band? It's possible; many insist the utterly mainstream Arcade Fire is indie, too.

Do you know what indie means?
I don't think you do.

Does it really matter what the label is? If the music is good, just enjoy it.

You're right, but it's amusing that middlebrow lovers of mainstream tripe insist on labeling bands like this indie, as if it confers upon them some credibility.

Awesome! More music for people who know who Arcade Fire are. ;-)

PJ Harvey is also out today. This is commonly known as "an embarrassment of riches".

Wow, I didn't realize anyone was still into Radiohead. I thought they kind of bit it after Amnesiac and haven't liked a single thing they've released since.

Their last concert here in NYC sold out in 13 mins. pretty sure people are still into them, they just don't travel by egg, so they stay somewhat under the radar.

While impressive, that doesn't particularly surprise me, nor is it particularly revealing. The band, compared with others, hardly ever tours. When they do go on tour, they play an appallingly small amount of dates. So an NYC show, really, could sell out in 13 minutes relying only on the hardcore fans left over from the 90s.

I'm not favoring Lady Gaga, here--not really sure where that came from. I've just been of the opinion that their most creatively energized and interesting work was all composed over a decade ago.

Compared with what passes for music today, Radiohead is flat-out amazing. In a broader sense, however, I just don't find them particularly interesting post-Amnesiac.

Thom Yorke: proof that you don't have to be saccharin cute and cookie cutter boring to make it in the music industry. Though this caliber of talent is exceedingly rare.

Man, I love Radiohead.

A new Radiohead album == HUGE. Can't wait. One of the few acts I get really excited about.

Now, if only Boards of Canada would finally release a new album. That would be an EVENT. C'mon guys, you're killing me.
