Cat Thief Steals From Neighbors In California (VIDEO)

Cat Thief Steals

The Huffington Post   First Posted: 02/16/2011 12:26 pm Updated: 04/ 8/2012 6:28 pm

He's the ultimate cat burglar. Perhaps because he is a cat. Dusty the cat sneaks out of his San Mateo, California home every night to do a little stealing. He snatches up everything from bathing suits to shoes to children's toys, and according to this AP video has burglarized the neighborhood over 600 times. His record? 11 items stolen in one busy night.

This isn't the first animal to steal from humans. Another cat became infamous for stealing over 57 socks from U.K. neighbors. And a dog once walked into a Salt Lake grocery store, stole a bone, and then fearlessly walked out with it, despite the manager's warnings. So much for a loyal companion.

this might seem real cute and funny, but many people do not appreciate outdoor cats. it is irresponsible to let them roam about the neighborhood and steal and kill other "wild" life (birds). you are also putting them at risk of cat-haters who will do harm to your beloved pet. --animal lover

I'll be really impressed if flat screen TV's start to go missing.

LOVE this story! When I was a kid we had two cats who were best buddies. One was an incredible hunter, but the other had a crooked tail and didn't have the coordination to catch anything. When the hunter would catch a bird or mouse or whatever, he would bring it home making a funny yowl... it's called "announcing the kiII". Well, one day I heard a cat coming down the stairs "announcing the kiII" only the voice didn't sound right. Turned out it was the crooked tail cat proudly announcing that he had caught a paper cup!

After that he started bringing home garbage of every variety. One day my mother got an angry letter from the home owner's association demanding that she clean up the pile of garbage on the back porch. Turns out our little hunter had amassed quite a collection of debris back there! Personally I think the HOA should have paid him for his services!

Seems this cat also stole the video. Wasn't working here so I Googled it, found four different sites. Not one of them worked. Here, kitty, kitty, kitty........

This story is so funny. Cute cat. When I first got my cat as a little bitty kitty, I never knew that cats were known for stealing things. One day my cell phone disappeared, as several other items that had disappeared over a few months time. I looked under a chair, low and behold a stockpile of her treasures, bottle caps, pens, items of clothing and my cell phone! She was very tense when I found her hiding place, and she has now found a new place. LOL

LOL! So cute. I had to temporarily move my kitten's stash so that I could vacuum under the end table where he kept it. Even though I put it right back he gave me the cold shoulder for a couple of days.

Someone needs to give that Cat a job in politics. Looks like he's really good at bringing home the pork.

We had a local cat like this. Not actually even our cat but she brought presents since we fed her sometimes.
Bras, socks, packages of jerky, screws, spices(perhaps she was knocking over a 7-11?), toys, gloves, rolled up paper and plastic. I decided we needed to teach her to bring back money as a joke and showed her a dollar bill. She came back within a week with a photocopied five dollar bill. It was just too funny. Hey, at least she tried.
