02/17/11 07:53 AM ET   AP

ADELAIDE, Australia — Police say a diver has been killed by two great white sharks off the south Australian coast.

Police Insp. Glen Sickerdick told Australian Broadcasting Corp. radio the abalone diver was surfacing Thursday when he was attacked near Port Lincoln in South Australia state.

An ambulance service spokeswoman told Australian Associated Press the skipper of the dive boat saw the attack and returned alone to Port Lincoln where he was treated for shock.

Sickerdick says a search for the diver's remains will begin Friday.

It's worth pointing out that if you are aware of swimming with white sharks, you can fooling them (for a while) acting like them or impersonating them see:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00gfq9w

"For ten years Mike Rutzen has swum with great whites, without the protection of a cage. He has spent so much time in their company that he has learnt to read their body language and to think like a shark. It is this knowledge that keeps him safe."

When the driver showed up to the hospital the only words he kept repeating were "I think we need a bigger boat. I think we need a bigger boat."

Well Down Under can be quite a rugged exciting place to reside in. During the recent Australian floods tiger sharks were sighted swimming down the main street of a Queensland town --- probably just looking for a nice takeaway. Also there were warnings to watch out for any stray crocodiles and agitated Taipans, not to mention the most lethal spiders in the world all trying to get out of the water and into peoples houses!

Two great white sharks swimming in the ocean spied survivors of a sunken ship. "Follow me son" the father shark said to the son shark and they swam to the mass of people. "First we swim around them a few times with just the tip of our fins showing." And they did. "Well done, son! Now we swim around them a few times with all of our fins showing." And they did. "Now we eat everybody." And they did. When they were both gorged, the son asked, "Dad, why didn't we just eat them all at first? Why did we swim around and around them?" His wise father replied, Because they taste better without the crap inside

Oh that lethal smile. It is the reason why I have called my bathtub "Pacific Ocean" since 1976.

If I remember rightly, the animatronic white shark in "Jaws" that terrorized audiences was named "Bruce" after film director Steven Spielberg's lawyer. I wonder whether the lawyer was thrilled about the honour ...

I so remember being afraid in the bathtub after that movie.

Me thinks it could have been to pay homage. Not too many other famous Great Whites.
