Woman Gives Birth In The Lincoln Tunnel

Sometimes the light at the end of the tunnel is New Jersey.

From City Room:

"At 8:35 this morning, during rush hour on the Lincoln Tunnel New Jersey toll plaza, a taxi cab pulled up to the officer that was stationed there," Port Authority Police Officer Richard Kuncken said. "The cabbie advised that his passenger was in labor." The officer at the plaza, Kevin Leonard, "checked her and said 'it's coming now,' " Officer Kuncken said.

Kuncken, who is a trained paramedic, rushed to where the cabbie had pulled over and successfully delivered the baby girl without complications.

He then went with mother, daughter, husband and grandmother to Hoboken University Hospital. The officer said the mother didn't seem at all fazed that she just gave birth in the loudest, dirtiest least serene place in the city.

The only damage done was to the cabbie's upholstery.

"He's going to need a cleaning service," Kuncken said.

i feel sorry for the kid when he/she/it eventually wants to run for the presidency. what state should the birth certificate be from? and if it's from the wrong one or there is any irregularity -- the kid was born in kenya!

Was the baby born in New York or New Jersey? Will they give a birth certificate? What if the baby eventually wants to run for President?

Wow....Too bad it wasn't a boy, they could name him Abraham.
This is definitely the weirdest tunnel story of the week. The jokes are endless, Born Bridge and Tunnel!

Even though the baby is a girl, she should be named Lincoln.

It's far better than Tunnel.
