George Soros Responds To Glenn Beck, Fox News Attacks (VIDEO)

George Soros

First Posted: 02/19/11 09:04 AM ET Updated: 05/25/11 07:35 PM ET

Liberal billionaire George Soros responded to Glenn Beck's frequent attacks on him during an interview with CNN's Fareed Zakaria that is set to air on this Sunday's episode of "Fareed Zakaria GPS."

Beck has repeatedly cast Soros as the "puppet master" and chief architect of a shadowy group of left-wing people and organizations who are determined to destroy the current geopolitical system and replace it with a "new world order." Beck's statements about Soros' experiences during the Holocaust have proved so controversial that 400 rabbis signed a letter asking Fox News CEO Roger Ailes to "sanction" his host for making them.

Speaking about Beck, Soros told Zakaria, "I would be amused if people saw the joke in it," adding that he thinks Beck is "projecting" the views of Rupert Murdoch, who owns Fox News, and who Soros accused of "telling the people some falsehoods and leading the government in the wrong direction."

Soros said he thinks Fox News "has imported the methods of George Orwell, you know, newspeak, where you can tell the people falsehoods and deceive them."

The video player is CNN. Communist Network News. Soros is a lying murdering thug who should have been brought before the high courts for genocide and funding mass destruction. Don't believe me. Do your own research as I do. I don't side with any media FCC outlet. You have to look and read between all lines. Republican/Democrat/Independent It doesn't matter. We all know most people are crooks. Why would one give exception to a tycoon? If he cared about you, he wouldn't be so rich now would he? The guy who own most of Mexico you probably haven't heard of yet thousands are being slaughters in Mexico right now. Wonder who that tycoon is??? It really doesn't matter. Their nuclear ambitions has already put us in a death spiral that will kill us all. Even them. Stupid humans.

Asking Glenn Beck to provide evidence of his vast conspiracies would be like asking Andy Kaufman to prove his Professional Wrestling career was real…

And most intelligent, sane, voters are very much aware of what Rupert Murdoch and now, the Koch brothers are doing. It had been hidden for a long time, as we Americans tend to want to give people the benefit of the doubt if we have no solid proof. Having said that, my mind was made up years ago, but now the proof that supports my position is more than evident. May many more wake up to the lie that is "Fox News".

George Soros is a great man. He knew the damage George W. did to the country and tried to stop him by supporting liberal candidates. The Koch bros. and Murdoch are spending billions to lead the country toward an oligarchy (more than it is now). Many American are so uniformed they don't even know this is happening. Tax cuts for the rich, Union busting, get ready third World America.

You know, Soros did not collaborate with the Nazis. That was a horrific lie that Beck told, and you should be ashamed to replicate such a shameful and disgraceful bit of nonsense.

It is terrifying that people refuse to educate themselves. I just returned from visiting a couple who have no idea what is going on. The man is educated and holds a responsible executive position in a large company. He was willing to go on line and read about Wisconsin. She is "not interested" in any of it. Lordy!

It is good that Soros refutes what Glenn Beck says, but to what purpose? Does anyone here really believe that the people who watch Beck and believe his lies and insane antics will really be swayed by the elegant simplicity of an accused man simply responding to his critics?
08:03 AM on 02/22/2011
I only recently saw Glenn Beck for the first time, and I'm astonished that anyone could take him even remotely seriously. Apparently some people are capable of believing anything they're told. Soros telling them the truth might not hurt.

I was driving late last night and listened to Alan Colmes. I was amazed at the beckerheads who were calling in and just repeating Beck's words. I don't much like Colmes, but he did handle those folks very well.

Reagan just stood there and watched it fall of its own weight, pretty much.

But I know that contradicts the hagiographic (look it up) legend that the current RW prefers.

Glen Beck goes to far, but it is interesting to hear what he has to say. What his say is often insightful, often has *some truth*, but is often overreaching. There could be a protest with 100 people holding socialism signs and Glen Beck would say, "these people are going against American principles, but they are protected and able to do that thanks to our American principles" which would be true. HOWEVER then he would follow it up with "This is bound to spread all over America and in the next few months America, if we don't do something about it, these protests will be in all 80 major cities across America" AND THAT is how he overreaches and discredits what he says. Libertarianism idealistically is not a bad philosophy, but it can be followed to literally, which then turns it into bad news like the Tea Party and Glen Beck.

truly---you give beck WAY too much credit---he isnt just over-reaching, he REACHES as far as he can to lie about everything that he possibly can

and while i'm at it---libertarianism IS, actually, a bad philosophy---very bad--insidiously so---it combines social darwinism with bastardised democratic principles, plus phony, obsolete laissez-faire economic voodoo and dresses it all up in founding father, patriotic BS

in other words, libertarianism is nothing more than neocon enabling---today's libertarian is tomorrow's fascist

And patriotism is whatever we decide, at any given point, to satisfy the conservatve agenda---Fox News

Agreed. Reaching suggests that he starts from established facts.

Glen Beck is a weird hybrid of Corporatism and Social Conservatism, there seems to be very little Libertarian influence in his "philosophy."

I would atleast agree with the social conservatism part. I however still see the libertarianism in him, however its not a traditional libertarianism that he follows but more along the lines of the newer tea party style libertarianism that mixes in social conservatism.

Now don't get me wrong, a moderate amount of social conservatism can be a good thing, provided its still respectful of the views of others. The problem is that most social conservatives don't have much respect for other POVs. I myself am more of a social moderate, as I'm ok with things like civil unions but I personally believe in more traditional family values. I don't force my beliefs on others though, and I also realize that I'm far from "perfect" because I do drink sometimes or go out with friends on a friday night.

Eitherway, good job on pointing out Glen Becks SC side. I didn't really see it that way but thinking about it now, hes definately a social conservative.

What's cool is that in the future we won't have to refer to George Orwell, 1984 and Nazism. We can just refer to Rupert Murdoch, Fox News and Glenn Beck.

You don't dig rhetoric, do you? Regardless, if you believe Beck, there's nothing that he's not capable of, including an insidious hostile takeover of the only "fair and balanced" news network.

well, we always knew Glenn beck was an ignorant anti-semite. Now he goes after a man who endured the death of his family due to the Holocaust (which Beck is DOUBTING ) at a very young age. Beck had far more advantages as a youngster, & STILL turned to drugs & alchohol. He didn't do much with his life and yet takes great pleasure in misleading & scaring vulnerable people. Soros, on the other hand, has tried through his foundation to help the poor, the orphans,, and to make the world a better place despite his horrible experiences.
Glenn Beck tries to be Howard Stern & when THAT doesn't work out becomes a demagogue & a HATER. Nice job, Glenn. .
