Nuclear Iran

The Washington Post:

A comprehensive new U.S. intelligence report concludes that Iran has resumed research on key components for a nuclear weapon, but that the slow and scattered nature of the effort reflects renewed debate within the regime over whether to build a bomb, U.S. officials said.

the only thing stopping the US aggression is the fact that Iran will have nukes
08:08 PM on 02/21/2011
Really? I thought that according to the US and Israel they already had the bomb. It is just as well this POTUS is slow to decision making. Why, based on the prior position of these two great and loving allies, Iran already had the bomb. If the brother POTUS was as trigger happy as the gullible trigger happy ones before him - there would have been ``shock and awe`` in Theran ages ago.

It was plain and simple oil envy that was causing the false crisis nd immediate desire to bomb Iran wasn`t it?

It was reported three years ago that  Iran was within six monhs of producing a nuclear bomb. Why do i get the feeling 15 years from now they'll still be reported to be 'within six months of producing a nuclear bomb"?

Maybe that's because any country with anything resembling a modern science program is six months away from producing a nuclear weapon.

Not to mention Iran has been "six months away" from producing a nuclear weapon since the mid nineties

How does one "launch" a Static Underground Nuke Test?

A Lil more fact and proofreading may be in order for this writer.

Just maybe they thought the story had been fact checked and proofread by the Israeli embassy before it was offered to them for publication

I would ask Israel.
No, I'm not kidding.
Yes, I would talk to my enemies.
I'm serious.

This is really quite hilarious. Haven't the US and Israel been selling the idea of an imminent Iran bomb for years? Sounds like you need another Curve Ball. :)))

Hi Cihangir--
I like your post... :)

However, I don't share your jocularity, since I'm of a generation where I could have wiped off the face of the earth in 1959 at the tender age of four during the Bay of Pigs Standoff!

Yeah, it's aaaalways something with these RRRWW Neocons with the Bomb and mushroom clouds...

And, now that we've had a Curveball, a a Berlin Wall, a WaterGate, followed by the lexicon *gate, with Iran-Contra, Vietnam, Afghanistan, Iraqistan, Ubiquitoustan...

We don't believe them anymore.

Was the National Intelligence Estimate cited by Washington Post reporters Miller and Warrick, compiled by the same geniuses who advised the White House that Saddam Hussein possessed weapons of mass destruction and had numerous laboratories manufacturing biological weapons back in 2002?

The reason, unstated in this article, that Iran has slowed its atomic weapons development, is the embedding of an extremely complex Stuxnet worm in Iran's nuclear complexes' computer systems.  The worm which reportedly has dozens of different attack points and attack times, was developed by the Israeli's who bought high speed centrifuges identical to those purchased by Iran, and custom designed the computer worm to speed them up so they would fly apart.

The reduction or delay of this threat is the primary reason why the chicken hawks like Joe (Tailgunner) Lieberman and assorted other neo-cowards have stopped drumming for  pre-emptive attacks on Iran.

Cyrus Safdari debunks the Stuxnet hype being peddled by the "craven parrots" who masquerade as journalists:

The U.S. is behind this because of its insane militarism.

R U Sirius?

You are trying to be idiotic? Try-- you are so 500 mile per hour winds at fireball hot vaporize your atoms in a flash, reduce buildings and your sorry self to ash and irradiate the rest of your neighborhood (if you're lucky) and your entire country (if you're not)-- Wrong.

In a word.

If you really don't know what you are talking about to this extent, then please go away until you have something to add to the conversation. Because it really is grown-up stuff.

Time for weaklings like you to get out of the way. Iran needs to be dealt with. If they will not remove beardo themselves, the civilized world will need to do it with the big stick.

HERE WE GO AGAIN..."A comprehensive new U.S. intelligence report concludes that Iran has resumed research on key components for a nuclear weapon..."

...sounds like a case to justify another war is being concocted....
07:08 AM on 02/21/2011
BEST DETERRENT?
Either ANY country in ME can have nuclear bomb OR NO country in ME should have nuclear bomb (e.g. everyone should submit themselves to international nuclear inspection).
Anything in between, will create problems. You don't have a genius on Survival 101 (and History 101) to figure this out
07:14 AM on 02/21/2011
sorry, typo. I mean, "You don't have to be a genius...".

Debating!? This is just the editors way of selling his publishcation. There is no debate only long held determination to do it. Who is anyone trying to kid?
07:50 PM on 02/24/2011
Apparently you are kidding yourself, since absolutely no US military or intelligence agency has accused Iran of producing nuclear weapons or intending to do so. You should focus on your more immediate needs, like learning to spell "publication" properly.
