Michele Bachmann: Tax Code 'A Weapon Of Mass Destruction'

Michele Bachmann Tax Code

Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) criticized the country's current tax code as "a weapon of mass destruction" in a speech she delivered Saturday night to local Republican activists in South Carolina, the Spartanburg Herald-Journal reports.

According to the local outlet, the Tea Party favorite called for the system to be abolished. "We need a radically different system," she stressed to a crowd of nearly 200 guests.

In speaking out on the state of the U.S. economy, Bachmann didn't hold back in taking aim at President Barack Obama's handling of the issue.

"Our Peace Prize-winning president is very busy bowing these days to kings," she reportedly said. "He is bending down to dictators, and he is brown-nosing the elites that are in Europe, and he's babying the jihadists who are following Sharia-compliant terrorism."

Sharing her take on how the White House has handled the recent uprisings in Egypt and Iran, Bachmann suggested, "[Obama's] making Jimmy Carter look like a Rambo tough-guy."

The conservative congresswoman's trip to South Carolina has led some to speculate she may be mulling a bid for the White House in 2012. Despite once denying a presidential campaign could be in her political future, the Republican lawmaker has more recently signaled a run may not be off the table.

"I'm hopeful and very optimistic about where we're going to go in 2012," Bachmann said at one stop on her trip, according to the Associated Press.

Bachmann has not decided if she will run for president in 2012. Her consideration is taking her to other early contest states including Iowa, New Hampshire and Nevada.

She drew applause when she defended the tea party activists, saying they are simply people who think taxes and the deficit are too high and support the U.S. Constitution.

Bachmann reportedly lauded South Carolina as a "GOP paradise."

It's just another attempt to shift taxes away from those who hoard money to those who lack money through a flat tax (which would be a tax increase on those with incomes below $250K) or a value added tax (think sales tax that gets applied every time a product changes hands, so end user consumers pay it 6-8 times through higher prices on EVERYTHING)

Our tax code is a travesty. It allows corporations that make tens of millions in this country pay no taxes. Yes the richest two percent pay eighty five percent of the taxes but this is misleading, they receive not earn the largest percent of income. The right is all about morals and god, is it moral for two brothers to lay off 25% of their workers and still earn 11 billion dollars? I wonder how much they paid in taxes?

Just so we keep things in their proper perspective.....

Ms. Bachmann, elected in 2006, has missed 178 votes since 2007.
She personally sponsored 33 Bills in the House since 2007...NONE of them even made it out of committee, NONE of them Passed.

Thanks for five long years of being paid by the Tax payers to accomplish nothing
Ms. Bachmann.

Now what was it you were blathering about?

Ms. Bachmann, since you have had such STRONG feelings about the "Tax Code"..you know, being a WEAPON OF MASS DESTRUCTION and all....what have YOU done in the last FIVE YEARS that you have been a Representative of the People...since 2006...to pass Bills that would FIX IT?

Seriously. People just might get the idea that YOU have been negligent at YOUR job, if YOU'VE really believed our tax code is a WMD and you are just now getting around to mention it.

Ms. Bachmann, you have been a US House Representative since 2006. Exactly what have you done in the last five years to "correct" our "WMD" Tax Code?
My gosh, if you really have felt THAT strongly about it all these years...because obviously President Obama had nothing to do with creating it....why has it taken YOU soooo long to act on your convictions?

Where are all those BILLS that YOU have introduced and worked your heart out to PASS every year for the last five years, to FIX that WMD tax code?

Some of us might just get the idea that since YOU have such strong beliefs about the tax code, being a WEAPON OF MASS DESTRUCTION and all...that you have been utterly negligent at your job since YOU have done NOTHING in the last five years to fix yourself!
