Apple iPad 2 Event Set For March 2: REPORT

Hold on to your hats, because the iPad 2 may be swooping in fast.

Kara Swisher of All Things D reports that Apple will hold a special event on Wednesday, March 2 in San Francisco, where it's possible that the followup to last year's breakout product will be announced.

Though invitations have yet to be mailed, Swisher has confirmed the event with "several sources close to the situation."

Since the unveiling of the original iPad in early 2010, there has been no shortage of speculation about the tablet's successor, unofficially called "iPad 2."

According to some of the rumors, the next iPad could feature front-facing and rear-facing cameras, as well as a slightly slimmer and lighter build. Customers may even have to choose between two separate versions of the device--one built specifically for AT&T's network and one for Verizon's.

If Kara Swisher's intel is correct, we have only to wait nine more days to see which of the rumors prove true--if any.

Will Apple unveil the iPad 2 on March 2?

May God keep all of Apple's exploited Chinese workers safe from suicide during the production of the iPad 2.

And may they save them from your computer, whose parts were made in China at the same factories.

LOL! Nope. Apple only makes its own garbage.

These articles are ridiculous.
Technically, they might be having an event. The company made no other announcement, and no details were given. So pundits weigh in with guesses of what the announcement will be.
Give it a break!
Yesterday, I saw an article "iPhone 5 will be delayed..." Really? How could you define "delay" if an introduction date was never given? In fact, technically, no one ever said or promised an iPhone 5 was even scheduled! Maybe they just crank out iPhone 4's forever?
Sounds like a lot of stock manipulation! LOL

Apple has been loyal to an annual release cycle on iPhones for 5 years now. Its more than reasonable to expect a continuation on both iPhone and now iPads.
03:35 PM on 02/23/2011
sure, that's reasonable, but it isn't a guarantee, to the point that news outlets can call something a "delay", (an event that has not been announced officially. How can it be delayed?)

Actually, it's called "planned obsolescence".
Apple scheduled the ipad 2 release before they released ipad 1.
And, no doubt, the ipad 3 release is already scheduled.

And Apple allegedly releasing a new product a year after it's last comes as a suprise or a shock to you?

I love Apple products but they are not really helping our economy by producing their products in China.

What about all the people that Apple employs in their stores? What about all the people who write apps? What about the people working in advertising the product? What about the people who are designing the OS? What about the people who designed the thing in the first place?

And what about all the other companies that have jumped on the tablet band wagon now that Apple has made a product that sold 15 million units last year?

The iPad helps me in my business. How is that not helping our economy?

Name a single tech company that produces their products in America. Not just assembles- all the materials, every single port and wire- made in America. Name ANY company that meets those standards- clothes, cars, toys, dog food. This is unfortunately the world we live in. Why are you holding Apple to a higher standard than every other company in America?

Wow, ipad 1 isn't even a year old, who can doubt that Apple Corp is built on sucker consumers?

iPad was introduced over a year ago.
But I guess you want some tablet from 5 years ago, that held true to it's consumers and hasn't changed. Sure you do.

Horrible battery life? Please show me another tablet of it's size that has better.
08:27 AM on 02/23/2011
Horrible battery life? You probably carry an "iPad" made by Microsoft and not Apple.
04:56 AM on 02/23/2011
if you have a smartphone its hard to see how a tablet would be worth getting
06:30 AM on 02/23/2011
If you want to do it for work related tasks then tablets are far more useful. I can keep spreadsheets on it (you can on smartphones but they're too small and awkward to navigate), and reading on them is better.
08:05 AM on 02/23/2011
how? most tablets dont have higher resolution screens than cell phones do they, other than ipad

I have a non-3G capable Ipad. Great investment. I am able to do work on it, and I have 20+ books downloaded for travel as well as all of my music and some time waster games. That being said, I do not see myself buying the v2 anytime soon. Maybe when v3 comes out...
