Ireland may conjure up images of shamrocks and leprechauns, but as "Today" has discovered, visitors to the country might have a better chance of encountering another type of seemingly fabled creature -- the giant.
In this clip, NBC's Michelle Kosinski meets Brendan Holland, a 58-year-old Irish businessman who stands at a staggering 6 feet, 9 inches tall. Like other members of his family, Holland's height is partially the result of a tumor in the pituitary, the endocrine gland that secretes many essential hormones included those for growth.
Though the tumor was removed in his teens, Holland discovered he is distantly related to Charles Bryne, the legendary 18th century "Irish Giant" who measured over 8 feet tall.
