THORNTON, Colo. — Police in the Denver suburb of Thornton say they're not ruling out anything as they investigate what caused a crash that killed a family of five.

The Denver Post reported Tuesday that police plan to examine all aspects of the life of 33-year-old Monica Chavez, who was driving the SUV involved in Thursday's collision.

Authorities say the SUV struck a sedan, went airborne and hit a pickup carrying a couple and their three children. The SUV then rolled into a mattress store.

Killed were Randy and Crystal Stollsteimer and their children, ages 7, 9 and 12. Chavez and her two children were injured.

Chavez's mother says her daughter must have had a medical problem before the crash. Her pastor says Chavez apparently lost consciousness and doesn't remember what happened.
