Oscar Costumes At The FIDM Museum & Galleries

PHOTOS: Oscar-Nominated Costumes On Display At FIDM

Even though costumes are designed to complement the film's setting and time period, sometimes they steal the show. The Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising (FIDM) in Downtown Los Angeles is showcasing scene-stealing threads from more than twenty Oscar-nominated films in their 19th Annual Art of Motion Picture Costume Design exhibit. Now that it's Oscars week, drop in to FIDM's museum to check out all the wearable works of art on display--and place your bets on which film will win this year for "Best Costume Design."

For those who want to ogle Rodarte's Black Swan ballet costumes, sit tight for the Museum of Contemporary Art's (MOCA) upcoming exhibit Rodarte: States Of Matter. They'll be shown, along with other Rodarte pieces, at the Pacific Design Center starting March 4.

What: FIDM is displaying "original ensembles" from over twenty Academy Award-nominated movies for best costume. Displays from this year's nominations include True Grit, Alice In Wonderland, and The Tempest.
When: FIDM Museum & Galleries is showing the costumes until April 30. The museum is open from Tuesday through Saturday (10am-4pm).
