Washington Post:

Oregon Democratic Rep. David Wu has had a tough few weeks.

First, the Portland Oregonian reported that just days before the 2010 election Wu's staff confronted him about his increasingly erratic behavior and urged him to enter a psychiatric hospital for counseling.

Heh, another non-issue cooked up by who knows who. Kinda surprised I haven't seen anything about it on Fox News. So what, the dude dressed up in a tiger costume - on Halloween? Leave the guy alone. As a conservative myself I think this foolishness needs to stop - from both sides. How about concentrating on the important issues - like how we are going to deal with what's going on in the Middle East.

There is quite a bit more out there than just dressing up in a tiger suit. He lost part of his staff over bizarre behavior.

Unless there is more to this story, then people need to get off his case. Wearing a costume on Halloween and taking funny pictures is not insane, it's not even eccentric. It is completely normal, social behavior.

Last year was the Year of the Tiger according to the so-called Chinese Zodiac. I assume he's ethnically Chinese. I don't see anything too weird about him dressing up as a tiger for Halloween given his background and year of the Zodiac. Halloween is one of the few times of the year adults can loosen up a little. Give him a break.

Dressing up in a tiger suit, and sending out photo's of the event? OK, I'll accept that's a little out of the ordinary.

How about conspiring with billionaires to break public employee unions? Discussing planting provocateurs in front of camera crews to discredit them? How about illegally firing public employees, so they can be replaced with private contractors?

Apparently the latter isn't nearly as big a problem for Republicans. The Republican Governors Association just set up a web site to back Governor Walker of Wisconsin.

I guess it all depends on your point of view, or which party you belong to. Which do you think will be more damaging to their constituents?

Personally I'll take an eccentric over a corrupt sycophant..............any time, any where.

His staff urged him to get counseling for his increasingly erratic behavior? Something is missing from this story....wearing a tiger costume for Halloween is not erratic behavior? Facts missing from the story? Think so, or else this is a nonstory and certainly not worth posting anywhere....

sorry, my post should read wearing a tiger costume for Halloween is erractic behavior?

Considering some of the shenanigans we have witnessed from Congress over the past few years Wu's behavior, is nothing to be alarmed about.

The only thing that came to my mind about the tiger suit, was that at least he had clothes on! I mean come on. We've got GOP and professional football players amongst others, sending naked pictures of themselves and carrying on with mistresses while publicly claiming to be Christian and happily married.
Whatever issues he is having, l think it would be the right thing to do to give him some time to get it together and see what happens.
Tiger suit, geez how disgusting.

*rolling eyes* Whatever. Still glad I voted for him and would vote for him again.

I don't get it. The guy put a tiger costume on for Halloween. So what?

The undertone is he's a "furry." According to their standard, most of us have been a furry since we were babies. Absolutely ridcolous.

Having just read the WashPost, the WillametteWeek and the Portland Oregonian "coverages" of Rep Wu's "psychotic" episodes, noting all their hedgings in citing to secondary sources, sources "connected to", sources "familiar with", etc. I find Wu looking pretty good.

Does a politician get that kind of breathless-with-the-scandal coverage from main-stream and Al Franken style "alternative" media if they don't see him a serious threat to their sponsors' and owners' agendae?

I would have laughed, too, at Wu's reported 'madman's' promise to not vote for more spending. I like that kind of humor. I would have then voted for Wu to call him on the promise.

Its also refreshing to see a congress-person with enough disregard for "political fallout" he could dress up for Halloween. And have some normal family fun.

As I recall the WP, now scandalized by Wu's 'Tigger-Psychosis', didn't bat an eye when Big Oil lobbyists threw parties and supplied B-girls to government regulators.

And what's psychotic about gassing staffers to break tensions during a high-stakes and high-tensions campaign?

So, Wu 'squeaked' through: A 55% of votes victory. Very impressive considering how hard Republican and big-money worked, and how much they spent, in their pull-all-the-stops efforts to beat 'obstructionist' Democrats in 2010. Mainstream media have designated narrower margins than the 55% to 42% Wu won by "mandates" and "landslides" when their candidates won.

Campaign staffers leaving after the campaign, though... That is baffling...

I rest my case with this one.
No one has yet called upon Walker to resign but a costume is getting calls for resignation.
