Brazilian Man Allegedly Fathered Own Daughter's Children

SAO PAULO (AP) -- Police in northeastern Brazil say they have arrested a man accused of sexually abusing his daughter for 12 years and fathering her two children.

Maranhao state police spokesman Glauber Dias says the man confessed to abusing his daughter starting when she was 14 years old and fathering two daughters, aged 5 years and 2 months.

Police acting on an anonymous tip arrested him Tuesday in the city of Pirapemas. It is not clear if he has an attorney yet.

The Associated Press is withholding the man's name to protect the victim. The AP does not generally identify victims of sexual abuse.

Daughters have to be watchful of their own fathers because you just never know. Somehow I feel that acts like this is closely related to a females worth in this world.

This is so much more common than we imagine.

There was a case in our small town here in MI about thirty years ago. A man whose wife had died proceeded to have further children with his own teenage daughter. The man was quite public about it and was never prosecuted. It was treated as an oddity but not criminal; i.e. he needed a new caretaker and just moved in his daughter to fill the role of wife.

I would hope that this would no longer be viewed with such complacency today.

That is really disgusting. How come we don't ever hear of women having kids by their sons? I am a man lover (yeah it has it's ups and downs) but I could swear sometimes that maybe THEY are the root of all evil.......

Sometime the news appears to be stupendously weird, and preposterous that I asked myself if I failed to decode what is being said in the print or I might be inclined to believe that the news reporter might be under the influence of some exotic mood altering chemicals.
