LOS ANGELES — Authorities say a Los Angeles bus passenger has been shot and wounded while protecting his teenage son from a gunman. One person has been arrested.

The shooting occurred Wednesday on a Metropolitan Transportation Authority bus parked to change drivers in the Glassell Park area.

MTA spokesman Jose Ubaldo tells City News Service a man and his 16-year-old son were on the bus when another passenger who may be a gang member pulled a gun.

Ubaldo says the man apparently intended to shoot the teen, but the father moved forward to protect the youth and was shot.

Sheriff's Lt. Jenny Bethune says the wounded man was taken to a hospital in stable condition.

A suspect was arrested a short time later. His name wasn't immediately released.

By the way, if anyone from out of town comes to L.A. please for the love of god, do not take public transportation. I did once and arrived in some 3rd world country ( it was east of L.A.) Absolutely terrifying lol.

It probably won't cut down on gun violence, but how about a federal law that gets you a minimum 25 year sentence with no chance of parole for even pointing a weapon at someone? It might get expensive, but at least it'll keep useless gang bangers off the streets until they mature to an age that lets them realize gang life is for losers.

The state of California needs to do something about these gangs, it's out of hand and they are committing domestic terrorism.

CA law enforcement agencies have tried hard. But the ACLU wants more gang members on the streets instead of in prisons.

End prohibition. Without drug dealing profits, gangs couldn't afford guns.
