Natalie Portman's Miss Dior Cherie Perfume Commercial: Chic With A Side Of Cheesy (VIDEO)

First Posted: 02/23/2011 7:01 am Updated: 05/25/2011 6:35 pm

After seeing Natalie Portman's print ad for Miss Dior Cherie perfume, we were guessing the commercial would portray an equally innocent Nat à la françaisesmelling flowers, getting dressed and ultimately smooching a man.

And Sofia Coppola did not disappoint -- she even set the clip to Serge Gainsbourg and Jane Birkin's "Je t'aime...moi non plus." It's so French it hurts us. Although we enjoy the two second-long shot of Portman in the bath with sunglasses on. How very "Garden State."

And now that we've used up our only two points of reference -- Serge's greatest hits and an "indie" movie we'll cop to liking -- take a look and tell us what you think.

Quick Poll

Natalie's Miss Dior commercial:

Chic! I love everything about it.

Cheesy! I mean fromagey, or whatever.

I do not know why Natlie Portman would work for DIOR. They test their cosmetics on animals and kill animals so that rich women can wear them over their shoulders. I thought Miss Portman is a vegan? I thought she was an intelligent.

Just checked PETA's list of companies who test and Dior is not listed.

Perhaps having a vegan as their new face might enlighten them in the other areas?

Commercial respond to an analysis of target audience. Maybe the new Dior woman is more cheesy... I thought it was very femina woman and Miss Coppola did a pretty job.

More cleavage would be nice. Still wouldn't make me buy that awful toilet water, but it would make watching the ad more bearable.

I dunno about cheesy. It looks an awful lot like a copyright notice.

Can I have a third choice? How about cliche.

Why on earth would Christian Dior pull an ad due to copyright claim? Isn't getting an ad played a lot the goal? I'm confused.

There is little reason left in the corporate profit-mongering ways of the elite few ~ completely inexplicable, you're right ~

I thought she was an exception who would never sell out. What happened to artists who didn't have to pimp themselves out for money?

They are unemployed, broke, and complaining on HP about how artists shouldn't pimp themselves out for money.

Maybe she actually likes this stuff. Or maybe she actually likes money.

Look at the picture on the front page.
Natalie Portman looks like an inflamed cli toris.

Not any more cheesy than any other aid for cosmetics, fragrances, or jewelry.
