YouTube In Negotiations To Stream Live NBA, NHL Games

Bloomberg:

Google Inc.'s YouTube is in talks with the National Basketball Association and the National Hockey League to show live games, building on the popularity of cricket's Indian Premier League last year.

YouTube aims to show more live sports in the second half of the year, said Gautam Anand, Google's director of content partnerships for Asia Pacific, in an interview in Seoul yesterday.

Yes!!! Please!!! I really want to watch NBA live without having to go surf on a foreign website and listen to it in Russian or Spanish.

As a soccer fan myself, I hope they can get the Barclays Premier League for soccer. That would be amazing and for the MLS as well. It's a great way for the MLS to gain exposure. And paying an extra arm and leg for soccer channels is getting old. And ESPN, who claim to be the worldwide leader in sports, their coverage of soccer is embarrassing.

This would be a huge move for Google and YouTube. I love to watch the Hornets play but they rarely come on television. I think it would also be cool to look at the comments of other people that are watching the game. Theres nothing wrong with a little trash talking to the fans of the opposing team. I hope this deal gets done soon.

This would be fantastic.
And to any Youtube execs who may be reading: please find a way to allow NBA fans to select their own camera angles--I'm more than a little tired of missing a play because the production people think I want to see a loving closeup of the guy who just scored as he lopes his way back on defense.
