Gemma Ward Bans Questions On Personal Life & Modeling At First Public Appearance In 3 Years (VIDEO)

After opening up about her relationship with Heath Ledger last month, model-turned-actress Gemma Ward set some strict rules for her first public appearance in three years at a press conference to promote her play "The Ugly One" on Wednesday.

Reporters were banned from asking about her personal life or her career as a runway model, and were limited to only posing one question, according to Australia's Nine News and Perth Now.

The 23-year-old told the crowd, "It's nice to have a job that you're laughing the entire way through the day," and that she's been spending time with her family playing ping-pong, chess and guitar.

The play opens March 18.

Gemma Ward was/is a fantastic supermodel. She started off waify because she was quite young, but as she got older and naturally started gaining a little weight, some terrible people in the industry were calling her fat. Instead of succumbing to the pressure and losing a deadly amount of weight, she disappeared from the scene for a short while, especially after her boyfriend Heath Ledger killed himself. She's a great model with a great personality. No need to be cruel to her :/ especially about her boyfriend's suicide.

Someone who was only marginaly famous 3 years ago, and that was mostly because she was doing Heath Ledger. She has been sulking ever since, I guess. Funny...no one seemed to care that she was gone...or wondered where she went. Some people don't take a hint.
