I am definitely interested in the next iteration. If they cut the weight, pep up the chips and add that front face camera, I'm pretty much sold.
I don't expect an ipad to replace anything, merely to augment my current technology use. I have an android phone, a Windows 7 desktop and I support a ton of Macs as my job. If I could carry this around buildings it would make a nice companion that I can edit helpdesk tickets or otherwise look up information on when I'm sitting in front of a broken computer.

Without Flash it's useless. Buy an Android tablet.

I wanted a IPad but knew I could NEVER afford one. I am a disabled vet who lives on a limited income. SO I did the next best thing. I entered contests and I won a first Generation IPad before Christmas. I enjoy the ability to use so many different e book types on one system. Add to that the idea of being able to have a nice large music library. I use I IPad and with a few wires run it through my stereo while keeping it in a recharging cradle I get to listen to music for hours without one single commercial.

I REALLY hope that Apple puts in the 5-megapixel image sensor from the iPhone 4 on the back of the 2G iPad. Otherwise, if they use the same sensor as the one on the 4G iPod touch, the 2G iPad will essentially become a glorified iPod touch--not exactly what I want!

I like the home button =(

It's the same as the iPad except the cavity that was in the first iPad now mysteriously has a camera.

It's an evolutionary upgrade so if it has features you want or need the upgrade, otherwise wait till you really need one.

Personally, after I got my 11" Macbook Air my wife hasn't gotten any fight from me for her keeping the iPad most of the time. I hardly use it now...

Nothing against the device, just most of what I wanted to do on the iPad required workarounds where there are native apps on the Air.

So if it works for you then get one, unless our current one dies we'll wait for the 3.0 version...

Looking forward to it.

The iPad 2 will be really cool, amazing, innovative, fantastic, tremendous, neat, and special.  You will know this because they will use those words over and over and over again, just like they do at every one of their product announcements.

So just consider what an amazing cool person you will be by buying this fantasitc innovative special neat thing.

Look at the Itouch 2 with front facing camera and then add lighter weight with dual cell capability for CDMA and GSM AND YOU GOT IT

I'm surprised that no one has mentioned a slightly larger screen! It's so obvious (with Asus coming out with their 12.1 inch Windows 7 entry). Also, USB3 has been out for almost a year and is backward compatible, so any USB port(s) included should be USB3. A couple of Micro-SD slots would go towards portability, too. Lastly, go for TWO cameras (front for video chat and back for aiming and taking a pic).

USB 3will be leapfrogged by Light Peak (Thunderbolt) in short order. I could go for the two cameras though, for Facetime.

You could buy a xoom... if you want to spend $800 plus go through the hoop of buying a month of Verizon service for the device. The Xoom would have been a great tablet if it wasn't burdened with Verizon.
$500 for the baseline iPad is still a very compelling feature.
