Women have made the case for years that there aren't enough female voices in the opinion pages. The root of the problem, though, isn't so much that news organizations aren't featuring female contributors; it's that they aren't contributing in the first place.

You have Justice Scalia saying that women are not equal. Then Michele Bachmann, supports this position - as it's the same with her own church she attends.

Then you have many women supporting the Tea Party movement.

You had women pitted against themselves in voting for the ERA.


There needs to be a new amendment to the US Constitution, but it would take strong female support. Many men support ERA, in the end, it was the women who chose not to support it.

Women's voices are underrepresented because women are still considered second class citizens in this country and all over the world.
