Carmelo Anthony fired back at George Karl on Friday after the Denver Nuggets coach criticized his former player's attitude and commitment to playing defense.

During an interview (embedded below) on Thursday night's TNT broadcast of the Nuggets-Boston Celtics game, Karl said that Anthony's "defensive focus" was frustrating at times. "[Anthony's] Defensive focus, his demand of himself, is what frustrated us more than anything," Karl said.

Just hours later, Anthony tweeted "Damn, are u serious. Some people never seize to amaze me. Unbelievable."

Soon afterward, he followed up: "WHEN THE GRASS IS CUT THE SNAKES WILL SHOW."

"That's him. That's George Karl so I don't really try to pay too much attention to that. I know what I've done there in the 7 1/2 years I've been there; going to the Western Conference Finals. Last year, we were top five in a lot of categories. All that stuff, I don't know where it's coming from. I try not to pay too much attention to it," Melo later told the New York Daily News.
