Kendrick Perkins Cries After Getting Traded: Celtics Emotional After Trade Deadline

Kendrick Perkins

Kendrick Perkins and his former teammates were emotional after learning that the Boston had traded the center to the Oklahoma City Thunder before the deadline on Thursday, according to CSN New England.

"There was a lot of crying, lot of hugging going on," Perkins said before his former team left to go play the Denver Nuggets. "And a lot of it was me."

Perkins, who had played for the Celtics for seven years, was dealt to Oklahoma City along with Nate Robinson in exchange for forward Jeff Green.

"I miss them," Perkins said. "I ain't gonna lie. I'm gonna miss the hell out of them. It's going to be hard leaving them behind, leaving this team behind and the fans and this city. But this is a business, and being traded is part of that business."

His Boston teammates were also upset with the trade.

"It's not even about a teammate. It felt like you lost a family member today," Kevin Garnett said after Boston's 89-75 loss to Denver. "Tough day."

Paul Pierce talked about trusting team president Danniy Ainge and coach Doc Rivers: "We trust in them. It is what it is. We can't use any excuses, cry over spilled milk."

And so many were pisssssed when Lebon didn't stay Loyal to Cleveland... Perkins should be glad he went to the Thunder and not the CAV, like Baron Davis.

Perkins has a bum knee and will be out for the next three weeks. Looks like Boston may have gotthe better part of the deal.

so far it was a set of lousy trades for the Celtics, who did not better themselves and may have hurt themselves if Shaq and Jermaine O'Neill are not healthy for the playoffs. Perk set great picks, was tough as nails on defense, and was good for 10 boards per game. While not in the elite tier of centers, he is a hard working teammate.

Ainge, made one set of good deals. As a player he occasionally had spurts of good games. But as my wife said a year or so ago, she always thought his name was "Aingeyousuck" because that's what she always heard coming out of the TV room during a Celtics game.

There surely had better be something else in the works Aingeuyousuck, or you will have given up your only proven, healthy big. Now who will stay on Dwight Howard and the Laker's front line. One of the advantages the C's have had over Miami is at the center position.

Aigneyousuck.

The Celtic Trade was as bad as 4 Celtics playing in the All-star Game... It providing nothing, it Lebon James to will them to almost winning, other than that, the Celtics Players just got in the way.

not funny, but Ainge better have something up his sleeve for a center or else the Celtics will not get out of their division in the playoffs. The O'Neill's are not reliable physically.

yeah man, at this point I am worried about the heat, the bulls AND the knicks after yesterdays game. I had pictures of Ainge on my wall in high school, I am getting in a time machine and taking them all down.

Refreshing to see a player tell the straight truth. Usually in these situations, it's just a few cliches and they're off.

Perk is first class all the way. He had to be to earn the respect of the superstars on his team.

You need reminding of a couple of things. One, Kobe cries more than any other in the NBA especially because his teammates can't help him. Two, there's a team out there the Lakers cry over after every loss called the San Antonio Spurs. Ever heard of them? Those Lakers cried wee, wee wee...all the way home.

everything is riding on the return of the o'neils at the 5. remember that the c's got to #1 in the east w/out perkins playing until Jan. he was their security blanket on d though b/c he guarded the rim and was a great last line of defense. but he couldnt score and he needed another 3 or 4 months to get to full strength. jeff green was the best player in the deal and is a tough match-up on O. he posts up 3's and shoots over 4's. he'll be a perfect back-up for pierce or garnett. what i didn't get was trading robinson. he's inconsistent offensively but was a nice contrast to rajon off the bench. west hasn't proved himself in the play-offs. the c's should be fine but there's a ton more pressure on the big 3 now!

Full Disclosure: I have kept Perkins as "my most hated NBA player" since Hornacek retired.

I'm not surprised he shed tears, he's always been a crybaby.

Perkins was just traded to a team with a future. I would hate to see them in the first round.
