Independent Spirit Awards 2011 Best-Dressed: Who Looked Cool In The Cold? (PHOTOS)

The Independent Spirit Awards traditionally take place in Santa Monica the night before the Oscars. It's usually, you know, much more independent and more spirited than the stuffy ceremony the night after. And as such, the fashion is usually more relaxed and fun.

But we have never seen such a chilly-looking group of people as we did on Saturday night. With temperatures in the lower 50s, not only did just about every presenter comment on how cold it was (spend some time in New York, Hollywood!), but the exterior shots were more an endorsement of Patagonia and pashmina shawls than Oscar de la Renta and Armani. So, based on what we could actually see, here's the Independent Spirit Awards Best-Dressed.

And not to go all soft on you, but there really weren't any worst-dressed guests. For that, check out our Oscars coverage on Sunday night...when Los Angeles temperatures will remain in the 40s and 50s.

To Melissa Leo" Tattoos on the titties are a turn-off.

To the rest of the ladies, if you must get inked go to a very good tattooist and get something very small, cute & feminine in a place that is covered with clothing most of the time.

This "Big Shots" design makes it really awkward and difficult to see the shoes b/c the "vote on this" cr*p is in the way. Surely you can make a better design.

once again the huffington batch of sour grapes inspire catcalls from the too sincere and the critical.
if they saw this....why?the early ny warm season is chilly . with a little imagination they could be the national paper of small well kept birds . it may take avampire to wear a few thousand dollar pair of pants once but it takes a little old lady from pasadena to think its funny.natalie portman in this picture looked like they found her near the titanic.
