WHY: The New York School of poets and their friends the abstract expressionists have entrenched themselves firmly in the history of American art, and their early supporters have cause to celebrate. The Tibor de Nagy Gallery's 60th anniversary exhibition "Painters and Poets" presents some old favorites while acknowledging the gallery's role in the movement.

Featuring paintings by Helen Frankenthaler, Alfred Leslie, Jane Freilicher and others; Tibor de Nagy Editions collections of poetry by Frank O'Hara, Kenneth Koch, James Schuyler, John Ashbery, Barbara Guest and others; the Rudy Burckhardt films "Money" (1968) and "Mounting Tension" (1950); and archival photographs by John Gruen and Fred McDarrah.
