Tom Hooper: Oscar 2011 Best Director For 'The King's Speech'

Best Director!

Tom Hooper took home his first Oscar Sunday night for directing 'The King's Speech.'

After congratulating his fellow nominees, Hooper thanked his actors and the "triangle of man love, which is Colin Firth, Geoffrey Rush and me," he said. "I'm only here because of you guys, and Helena, I hope that reference doesn't make you too jealous."

Helena Bonham Carter, who played Firth's wife in the movie, laughed from the audience.

'The Social Network' director David Fincher won the Golden Globe this year and gave Hooper a close race for the Oscar.

'The King's Speech' was nominated for twelve Academy Awards, including Best Picture. See a full list of winners here.
