Update (3/2): Europe1 has the details on where the video came from -- which we previously reported was recorded in December. A contributor sent the clip to file sharing site CitizenSide, who shopped it around to French media who wouldn't buy it due to the high asking price and perhaps the risk of earning Dior's wrath, according to CitizenSide founder Philippe Checinski. Ultimately the Sun made the purchase. The person who sent the video to CitizenSide received 65 percent of the money made from sales in France and 50 percent made internationally.
Update (2/28 p.m.): Le Parisien writes that according to CitizenSide, a file sharing site that found the video and sold it to the Sun, the clip was produced December 12, 2010.
Update (2/28 a.m.): French outlets -- including Le Monde, Le Parisien and RTL info -- have picked up the video without question that it is Galliano.
The Associated Press didn't express doubt either, writing, "On Monday, a video posted on the Web site of British daily The Sun showed Galliano arguing with a couple at La Perle. It was unclear when the video was recorded, but in it, he was dressed differently than he was on Thursday." Galliano's lawyer Stephane Zerbib told the AP, "There's no comment on that...What matters isn't what's on the Internet, what matters are the testimonies and the hearings," adding, "What's on the Internet doesn't have much value."
Previously: The Sun UK has obtained a cell phone video of what certainly looks like Dior designer John Galliano stating, "I love Hitler," and, "People like you would be dead. Your mothers, your forefathers, would all be f**king gassed." The clip was reportedly taken at La Perle, the bar where Galliano was arrested for assault and making anti-Semitic remarks last Thursday. It's unclear if the video is from the same evening. (Editors' note: seems like not.) According to the Sun, he is speaking to a group of French and Italian people and being filmed by their friend.
Paris' Journal Du Dimanche (JDD) claims to have seen the video, the Telegraph writes. And Le Parisien reports that a new complaint was filed against Galliano on Saturday by a woman who said that the designer made anti-Semitic remarks to her in October 2010 at La Perle -- she explained to police that Galliano was drunk at the time and that she was sure of the nature of the remarks because she speaks very good English. Galliano's lawyer, Stephane Zerbib, told the French newspaper he hadn't heard anything about that.
