The duo behind the acclaimed Animal opened their second restaurant on Sunday evening. Dubbed "Son of a Gun," chefs Jon Shook and Vinny Dotolo are focusing on seafood, with dishes like lobster rolls and fish collars.
Eater LA reports that the 55-seat restaurant is all decked out in nautical paraphernalia to match the name of their restaurant. According to their website, the seats will be split between reservations and walk-ins. Call them at (323) 782-9033 after 2pm on any day to make a reservation, but be warned: incomplete parties aren't seated, and you have a grace period of 15 minutes to get everyone there.
Kudos to Yelper Ann N., who has the honor of being the first reviewer on Son of a Gun's Yelp page. She and her party went all in, ordering every single item on the menu (including the desserts). She raves, "Everything on the menu of delicious! My fav dishes were all the sandwich type items (lobster roll, shrimp toast, chicken), the king crab legs w/Tabasco butter sauce, pink grouper and Idaho trout."
