Massive Russian Avalanche (VIDEO)

WATCH: Massive Avalanche In Russia

This enormous avalanche nearly engulfed Russia's Mount Cheget.

The avalanche, which was intentionally set off to release loose snow, quickly consumes the mountainside, even reaching skiers and snowboarders a good distance away. The mountain, which has runs as long as 3 kilometers, is located in Russia near the Georgia border.

The practice of creating an avalanche to clear potentially hazardous snow is relatively common, but this massive cloud of snow leaves you wondering just how much the mountain held.
