With upsetting things like the Galliano scandal and the industry's subsequent (and surprising) reaction to it, it's nice to remember that sometimes the fashion world does really, really good things. Cue "Runway To Green" and "Christie's Bid To Save The Earth."

Runway to Green has partnered with brands like Gucci, Prada, Balenciaga, Burberry, Yves Saint Laurent, Marc Jacobs, Diane von Furstenberg, Manolo Blahnik, Oscar de la Renta,
Stella McCartney, Jason Wu, Alexander Wang, and more to raise money for the environement.

These designers will create pieces to join their Fall 2011 collections, then sell them on Net-A-Porter.com, in their stores or on their websites, with a percentage of proceeds going to places like Alliance for Climate Protection, United Nations Environment Programme's Billion Tree Campaign and the Natural Resources Defense Council via Runway to Green.

The initiative will launch with one fancy night called Christie's Bid To Save The Earth on March 29th at an event hosted by Francois-Henri Pinault, his wife Salma Hayek, David and Susan Rockefeller, Graydon and Anna Carter and Vogue. The emcee will be the always-entertaining Seth Meyers from "Saturday Night Live" and naturally there will be a fashion show along with a live auction.

Fashion and saving the planet? There is nothing to not love here.
