Charlie Sheen-isms Ripped By Spirit Airlines 'Living The Dream' Ad

Spirit Airlines Charlie Sheen

In the latest in tasteless advertisements from Spirit Airlines, Charlie Sheen and his "winning" lifestyle is made fun of by the airline in their latest "Living the Dream" sale.

The sale, in which tiger blood and adonis DNA are not required, boosts $27 one-way tickets.

The ad makes inspiring use of Adobe Photoshop's bevel tool, and also shows a masterful grasp of the pattern overlay function. No high schools have yet to come forward as having been contracted out by Spirit to create the ad, so the credit must go to Spirit PR.

Spirit can make fun, but Sheen, who is setting Guinness World Records and living with goddesses, might just laugh all the way to the bank.

This isn't the first time Spirit has launched inappropriate (or maybe just ill-timed advertising): The airline took on Tiger Woods mere weeks after his affairs became public, and asked fliers to "check out the oil on our beaches!" during the Gulf Oil Spill (the ad was later pulled). In January 2009, the airlines' flight attendants waged a complaint over sexually-suggestive ads.

People are going to be Sheening-out for quite a while, but no campaign can make this airline appealing.

I heard that Spirit Airlines is the single most successful airline in America!

Having regrettably flown Spirit Airlines a couple of times, I can assure you they are not in a position to make fun of how anyone conducts themselves.

Tough to know whether to admire them or pity them. On one hand they have to capitalize in any way possible to stand out in a very competitive discount airline market. On the other hand capitalizing on the tragedy of another human being in this way is unseemly at best and tasteless at worst and worse for them it could very easily backfire on them.

Assuming that none of their competitors follow the lead if there's a backlash it will be against Spirit since unlike the news sites, the tabloids, and even Huffington Post which are expected to write about celebrities and their missteps, it is out of character for an airline to direclty reference an individual event that is unrelated to their business solely for the purpose of advertising.

Having enough money to go overboard on booze and cocaine is hardly a tragedy, lol.

I though their ads were in good fun until I read about the oil spill one. Too many nonhumans suffered terribly in that human-caused disaster. Watch the video of dolphin pods dying or oil covered birds. Being irreverent is o.k., but choose good targets - I'm sure Charlie thinks this ad about him is hilarious.
