Michael Strahan On Plaxico Burress: 'The Giants Should Get Him' (VIDEO)

On Friday, the New York state prison system announced that Plaxico Burress is set to be released on June 6 because he is "eligible for time off for good behavior."

Former New York Giants defensive lineman Michael Strahan told Mike Florio on PFT Live Monday that the Giants should pick Burress up.

"I'd take him in a heartbeat," Strahan said. "I think the Giants should get him. Why even act like the guy's not talented and you wouldn't want him to play for you?"

Strahan also brought up Michael Vick's comeback to the NFL and suggested that Burress could capitalize on being given a second chance.

"I think Michael Vick has done a great job at showing that you can have a second opportunity and make the most of it," he said. "And I think that's what Plaxico could do if he's given the opportunity to do it once he is out of prison."

The one-time Super Bowl champion was sentenced to two years in prison after accidentally shooting himself in the thigh at a Manhattan nightclub and pleading guilty to one count of attempted criminal possession of a weapon.

Like Strahan said: They gave Vick a job. All this guy did was shoot himself in the leg (and boy would I like to be in that locker room when he first walks in. The comments will probably be worse than the prison sentence : )). .

Feel bad for Plaxico. He's had a tough punishment for making a dumb mistake. No one else in the NFL gets punished this harshly, not even for a dog fighting ring.

Also, don't carry a Glock with a round chambered unless it's in a holster. That little trgger saftey doesn't work so good, as Plax found out.

It should be a no brainer that he is picked up by some team, the man served his time and he caused no physical harm to no one other than himself. Give the man another chance.He deserves it!!!!!

I've been waiting for a moment to say this. Plaxico Burress gets jail time and NOT-ONE-SINGLE WALL STREET CROOK OR BANKER THAT MANIPULATED THIS COUNTRY INTO THE WORST FINANCIAL DISASTER EVER SEEN HAS NOT SEEN ONE MILLISECOND OF JAIL TIME!
