Blake Lively For Chanel: All Of The Ads & Behind-The-Scenes Pics (PHOTOS)

First Posted: 03/09/2011 10:18 am   Updated: 05/25/2011 6:35 pm

We brought you Blake Lively's debut Chanel ad earlier in the week, along with the fashion industry's unyielding praise for the "Gossip Girl," and now we've got our fingers on the full campaign for the Mademoiselle handbag line plus some behind-the-scenes shots.

Our favorite, of course, is Blake chatting with Kaiser Karl, mainly because we enjoy developing their dialogue in our heads. Sometimes it goes like this: "You are très chic." "Mais non, you are très chic."

Check out Blake's Chanel shoot.

I'm not usually into skinny chicks, but she is frankly, stunning.

The muses of Mlle. Chanel were so successful before (Marie-Hélène Arnaud, Suzy Parker, Romy Schneider, etc.) because I feel like they had an educated poise that I can't quite put my finger on. They looked out-of-this-world beautiful but also like women of wit, substance, integrity and wisdom.
Mr. Lagerfeld's choices fall flat with me. Other than beauty, success and popularity, Blake Lively doesn't seem like an appropriate addition to this group of worldly women. I feel like she alienates Chanel's actual clientele (maybe I'm only speaking for myself).
I'm younger than Ms. Lively, a college student with few funds, but I consider myself a frequent customer in terms of their beauty/accessories lines... and while Chanel will never lose my (miniscule) business, I'd respect the house more if it made more of an effort to remain close to the spirit of Mlle. Chanel.
P.S. Do you guys remember when Audrey Hepburn's character in Breakfast at Tiffany's said that she wouldn't wear diamonds until she was forty because diamonds look "tacky" on anyone younger than forty? I feel like that sentiment applies here.

Read some of her interviews. She is smart & worldly, also very humble.

I shall! I'm not familiar enough with her to pass judgement.. Hope I'm pleasantly surprised :)

I think Blake is stunning. She's beautiful, really. Some of these photographs are kind of flat, though.

I don't have a clue who she is, but she does have a spark that goes beyond blond and beautiful.  She looks like the sister of that actress on "Justified"....one of my guilty pleasures.

I just don't get this pairing. She looks too American for Chanel. Just the wrong look from head to toe...

Why does Karl Lagerfield insist on wearing that collar everywhere he goes?
It looks like a "Neckbrace for the Fashionistas".
And it also looks dumb, just let your 77 year old chin hang!

I'm certainly not suggesting she isn't pretty, but I just don't get his obsession with her. She just looks average to me. .

Her face is so perfect and lifeless she looks like a mannequin in these ads.

When Karl Lagerfield choose it-girl of the moment Blake Lively as the new face of Chanel, it made sense.

She’s young, blonde, beautiful, and sporty.

So, why am I so bored?

I’ve read reviews from other fashion insiders, and I have to say, I’m not the only yawning.

This underwhelment is bumbling under the service.

It was present in the New York Times article by Irina Aleksander, the sub-text asking "whatever, how long will this last? Will people be talking about her in 6 months?"

Designers have been guilty of choosing girls that are able to have the clothes wear THEM, to showcase their craftsmanship on live mannequins.

Which is where Lively comes in. When all-American girl gets tossed around to describe your look, it usually means pretty….and kind of boring.

Yes, I said it.

Where’s the high fashion? Where’s the rebellion? Where’s the intrigue? I already know her. I’ve seen a million other girls like her as the new thing. It’s been done.

Consumers are paying for the wonder, elitisim, and individuality that comes with Chanel. Ads are the place to steer the brand in an edgy direction. So, what makes Lively so different?

The answer: absolutely nothing.

She the best choice out of what is available right now. It’s a classic case of natural selection. And once the Darwinism of the fashion world will kicks in it'll be survival (literally) of the fittest.

And I’m afraid, Ms. Lively, won’t be in that group.

Adequate at best.  20-somethings can't afford anything from Chanel aside from the perfume, maybe.  And they certainly can't pull-off the evening wear and couture.
