Neil Gaiman, the award-winning writer of The Sandman comics and the novella Coraline, has signed on to pen English scripts for a big-budget series of 3D feature films based on Journey to the West, China’s classic novel about the adventures of the Monkey King.

Neil is a very nice, sensible man and a very talented writer. While I like his screenplays, I prefer his fiction and essays.
He alluded to this project on his blog many times recently. I'm a bit surprised the Hollywood Reporter got this before he blogged on it. He's usually candid about upcoming projects, as much as logistics permit.

I love anything by Neil Gaiman.  Now I just want to hear that he's working on another novel, or short story collection, or graphic series, or.....

I heard that "Talking To Girls At Parties" is making it to the big screen too. Let's hope it doesn't go the way of Vonnegut's "Slapstick".
