The Larimer County Republican Party has formally asked for the state to waive or reduce its $48,700 campaign finance fine, saying the party shouldn't be heavily penalized for the failures of former Chairman Larry Carillo.
"The Larimer County Republican Party should not be penalized by the imposition of such substantial fines when the failure to file the requisite campaign finance reports was the result of the failure of its volunteer chairman to inform the executive committee or the committee as a whole that reports had not been filed as required," said the fine waiver request filed with the Colorado secretary of state.
