Jewel: In Accident, My Car Saved My Life

It was a scary accident, but things could have been much worse.

Singer/songwriter Jewel, who announced in January that she was pregnant with her first child, had her car smashed by a volunteer fire engine in Texas on Friday. Luckily, she was okay, and she took to Twitter to reveal why.

"1 thing I do know is my car saved my & baby's life-definitely going 2 get another Cadillac SRX! It absorbed all the damage & kept me safe!" the star tweeted.

Cadillac certainly appreciated that tweet.

She also gave an update as to her health:

"Hey everyone-just got released from the ER & my Dr's office- everything is fine-me & the baby r ok- thanx 4 all your thoughts & prayers," she wrote. "Dr said no working out- so I'm going to take it easy this weekend. Just a little sore and banged up- but feeling so blessed this morning."

I hit a wall going 65mph and my car was a Honda 1997 Passport and it did the same thing.
That's the way cars are designed now.
I'm glad she is okay!

and I'm glad you're okay. They guy at the car dealership said, when I went to get another car, that the bodies of cars now collapse and take in the impact, when before, when they were all metal, it would cause more impact to be felt by the rider.
I was bruised badly and sore, but no broken anything. and for anyone who doesn't know, airbags are white and they give off a powder that makes you choke initally.

I agree. I used to like Jewel. Not since she hooked up with this moronic throwback to the 19th century. Rodeo should be illegal and anyone that treats animals harshly should be imprisoned for long periods of time.

Her first car, after moving out of her Van, was a Green Volvo Turbo Wagon. I forget what year. Early 90s? Perhaps not as fast, but also safe. I should know, I drove her around in it, on her first West Coast tour, Jan. '95. Rivers Cuomo, of Wheezer, cruised Sunset with us in it, on the way out of Atlantic Records that month.
Strange coincidence... My mom had the EXACT same accident, 'cept with a Semi Truck, in '86. She drove a '81Mercedes 180 SL Roadster. Mom thanked God. I thanked Mercedes. In each case, I'm just glad for Heavy Metal...;)
