Plus San Onofre came online in the mid 60s, so it is pretty old technology. I hope they give both plants a good, thorough evaluation of emergency systems in light of what is happening in Japan. Let's modernize these facilities if we're going to keep them in use.

...and get them OFF OF THE LARGEST BODY OF WATER ON EARTH!

Every time I've ever driven past the California nuclear power plant in the above photo, I've always shook my head in disbelief. Not only is it situated on a fault line, on the tsunami-prone Pacific Ocean, but it lies dangerously close to one of the busiest freeways in the country, making it a easy target for terrorists! THIS MONSTROSITY OF STUPIDITY NEEDS TO BE SHUT DOWN!

Agreed 100%. And if any of those residents in those nearby homes overlooking the Pacific Ocean wants me to take one of those 5,000 square foot potential death traps off their hands, I will generously do so!

They're all for sale, but here's a tip, make sure it's a second home.

No immediate threat... of course.
Until there's an strong earthquake with a tsunami. The emergency generators at San Onofre are at a pretty low level and I wouldn't be surprised if there are fundamental design errors too like having the electrical switch room in a basement, which is what did the Fukushima reactors in.
