NEW YORK — "Bored to Death" is now a family affair in the household of Ted Danson and Mary Steenburgen.
Danson says Steenburgen, his wife, is joining the cast for the new season of the HBO comedy due to air in the fall.
He says Steenburgen plays the vocal coach whom his character, George Christopher, hires after he decides to sing at a charity fundraiser where "Man of La Mancha" is being performed. Danson notes neither he nor his character can sing.
Danson and Steenburgen are moving to New York City, where the show is filmed, for several months.
Danson is publicizing his book, "Oceana," out March 15, about the dangers facing the world's oceans. He says his "Bored" co-stars Jason Schwartzman and Zach Galifianakis (gal-ih-fih-NAH'-kihs) are "incredibly supportive" of the cause, which he has been involved in since 1987.
