Fran Drescher's 'Happily Divorced' Close To TV Land Pickup

Fran Drescher: 'Happily Divorced'

Art imitating life imitating art. Or something like that.

Fran Drescher and collaborator/ex-husband Peter Marc Jacobsen are in negotiations with TV Land, and the two sides are close to nailing down a new comedy series for Drescher to star in, according to Deadline.

The show, which would be called "Happily Divorced," would be a fictionalized version of Drescher's real life: a woman finds out her husband is gay, then tries to date again and balance her relationships. It's something she and Jacobsen know well.

High school sweethearts and married in 1978, Drescher and Jacobsen stayed together for 21 years, a time that included their hit show, "The Nanny." Divorced in 1999, Jacobsen later came out to Drescher, and together they've fought for gay rights and even set each other up with men.
