Google Inc. (GOOG) plans to start testing a mobile-payment service at stores in New York and San Francisco within four months, letting shoppers use their phones to ring up purchases, two people familiar with the project said.

They need to reintroduce their online payment system (Google Checkout, I believe). PayPal needs some fierce competition. They're getting e v i l.

ahh, so now we have it....AT&T wants to charge more money as they expect the usage for man credit card companies to increase in the near future.
